Hello my friend! I'm Allyssa Powers, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC-S), and I'm on a mission to fill the gaps in our learning about practice and business ownership. Raise your hand if you were taught anything about private practice in grad school . . . cue crickets! Well, same here.
I had to learn everything the hard way about building and sustaining my own practice. I read tons of business books, listened to podcasts and made SO many mistakes along the way. However, even with all the trial and error I had to do I still absolutely love owning and running my small, but mighty practice and I am in love with the business side of things.
However, most therapists don’t feel this way. I get it. You went to school to be a therapist, not run a business. Many of us were taught we shouldn’t get into private practice. Not until we've “paid our dues”. This toxic belief leads to burnout, unhappiness and keeps too many good therapists playing small.
Here’s what I discovered . . . .
I have a deep passion for helping other therapists find success and avoid the confusion that often comes with starting a business. After seeing so many clinicians burnout under poor working conditions and low pay, I realized building my own practice had given me something invaluable: the ability to cultivate a career that I don’t need a constant vacation from.
My knowledge and experience gifted me the idea to create business-focused continuing education designed specifically for therapists:education that was accessible, practical, and a true reflection of what it is like to be a therapist in private practice.
Today, through my business focused continuing education for therapists, I help bridge the gap between clinician skills and business ownership with straightforward guidance, sustainable strategies, and resources that make ownership not only possible, but aligned and profitable.

We were never taught any of this in grad school! We are here to inspire and educate, so anyone who wants to own a private practice CAN do it without breaking the bank.

Want to determine if our courses meet your continuing education requirements? You can easily check by visiting our "State Requirements" page, where you can search either by your state or by your specific license type.
Currently, we hold approval from NBCC, though each state and license type has unique requirements. We always recommend double-checking with your state board, as regulations can change frequently. Generally, most LPC's (licensed professional counselors), MFT (marriage and family therapists) and LISW (licensed independent social workers) are able to take our courses for continuing education credit.
